The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is one of the largest art museums in North America. Its extensive collection, boasting over 120,000 pieces, encompasses a wide range of artistic styles, from contemporary works to historic masterpieces by Indigenous, Canadian, and European artists.
(*) Although generally there’s an entrance fee, there are also multiple ways to visit the AGO for free:
- The first Wednesday of every month, free tickets are available to anyone from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
(Normally, a single-visit ticket for adults is $30). - Some events, such as live performances and talks, at the AGO are available by booking online a free ticket.
- Young Ontario residents (including young temporary residents), ages 14-24, can apply for a free annual pass.
This means a full year of unlimited access to the AGO and all the special events for free.
(The usual cost of an AGO annual pass ticket for adults is $40). - Holders of Toronto Public Library cards can have a free pass to the AGO.
This pass entitles a total maximum of 2 adults (including cardholder) to free general admission during regular public hours.
